Dead To Me Poem by Christina Ramirez

Dead To Me

Your dead to me
You drowned youself in the sea
We brought you to the shore and left you at the door
Wondering if you would walk through
Giving us a new chance to see a different point of view
You never gave us a second look
Instead you took everything we gave you and turned our world's upside down
And threw us harshly to the ground
And everything fell apart and discovered that you never really had a heart from the start
But a human form you disguised
Fitting perfectly into size
Feeding us handfuls and handfuls of lies
Our ignorance grew as you were trying to super glue our eyes
But it was a plan you were willing to pursue
Even though you knew everything you said was untrue
A chance that could lead you to your demise
A trap you brillantly devised
Kudos to your work, but we all see behind your smirk
The wheels spin yet no one lives beyond your ears
And the dreams you have for an adolescent will soon become your fear
For one day she'll see what you've done to her
Seeing things as they are, not as they were
For her eyes will no longer be blinded by your revolting hands
For that day will be the day she'll take her stand
She'll rip your hands to shreds as she catiously holds you by your threads
Then she'll discover who you really are
Though you've cut her deep, sadly she'll bear the hurtful scar
She'll no longer see you as a vision
Contemplating probably the hardest decision of her life
She will see the life that could have been
Finding her strength from within
And soon she'll be only a memory we lived only so long ago.
But everything isn't as it always seems
Especially when your facing life with broken seams
No more second chances
No more family advances
You became your actions and soon you'll be another side road attraction
You'll be gone, forever withdrawn
Until the day comes when your lying alone all by yourself
And you'll still think of yourself because you'll never forget saying what you'll never regret.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A dramatic story in a sea set, with a protagonist who everybody is dependent. In an uncomfortable air, a very well written and told poem.
