Cocasucks - Poem by Jonny Brackney

you wouldn't know it if you saw him, but
slim was a gorgeous fellow.
he could slick his hair back
shave his face.
a modern Elvis Presley.
he would sit alone at the local bar
and think about his ex-wife and
the kids she took away from him.
he wished he had done things
differently.
i never knew how much
life
a woman could suck from a man
till i saw him sitting alone that night.
and i said
hey slim,
what you moping for?

'......them cocasucks! he yelled at the wall
i sipped my beer
...who?
'at whore n her lit'l weasel man!
lit'l coca! ssssucker! ...that's wut he is'

oh.
well don't worry bout that, slim.
they don't know what love is.

'love? ...
wha d'you know bout lov! ! ? '

i smell the whiskey on his breath and
crack a smile.

i know anyone who'd marry a bastard like you
doesn't know jack about love, slim.

'ha! ha! y'know somthin, jonny....
y'right! ...
buy me a beer! '

i bought a round.
we talked about beautiful women
and god.

slim died that
night.
