Cognitive Bias Poem by Rm. Shanmugam Chettiar

Cognitive Bias

The brain's tendency to jump to conclude
From the conviction and preferences,
Prioritizes and processes
A large amount of information quickly.

You feel you're the cause of success,
And luck was the cause in others' cases.
You feel you know more than you do.
Failing, you blame outside factors.

You heed where you're of conviction.
You feel the listeners share your views.
If so, you are then inflicted
With the cognitive bias syndrome.

Stereotypin, the bandwagon
Effect, priming, perception
Selective, confirmation bias
And such are the outcome of it.

Confirmation bias is such
That the unwillingness to accept
Anything that confront yours
And seek one similar to your views.

Anchoring effect is such as
To focus on a single aspect
To the exclusion of other things
When you buy things or seek service.

Ambiguity effect is summed
Up as favourng a choice with
Possible outcome rather than
A chance with outcome uncertain.

Bandwagon effect is nothing
But a herd mentality, where
People follow pears decision
Or yield to peer's pressure.

Status Quo bias is a choice
To stay relatively unchanged,
With aversion to change or risk,
And form a comfort zone around.
