Cold Poem by soren Barrett

Cold

My fingers numbed at the touch of your hand
Frost of your stare freezes me where I stand
With time's melting warmth I wilt, eyes to the floor
Yet I stand exposed, patiently waiting for more

Apprehension the wind, blows a cold breeze
Still not thawed with ice securing my knees
A frigid silence, electric static of snow in the air
Brow of dark clouds, winter in your glare

As a warm touch sticks to cold steel
To extract myself my skin I must peel
My very shell you silently steal
Sting of loss I feel

In fear of awakening lightning's fire
My emotions I pack, turn my back and retire
