"Cold War" Poem by Elan Haokip

"Cold War"

An endless conflict
Countless bloodshed
Boundless hatred upon us
Too many bombs dropped over a single night.
Untold bitter farewell
Not a single day passes by without fear in our hearts
Hundreds and thousands of innocent children and women live in panic
And hundreds and thousands lives cry in agony
Oh, what a poor soul
We have lost the way of mankind
We live in an edge of a sword
in a place where humanity stop exists
The place of death indeed we live in
Where lifeless bodies hang everywhere
Yet, our enemies are reluctant to quit on us
Over a fight that can never be won
But our faith will never abandon
The faith of living in a world where hatred, racism, militarism no longer exist
rather than where humanity vanished.
