Columbine Please Bloom Again Poem by Holly Jamestone

Columbine Please Bloom Again

I don't know why a child would turn
Upon another child
Destroy a school, a teacher's life
Emotions running wild

No one will ever understand
Nor get into a mind
So filled with pain and rage-filled hate
Erupting through mankind

And parents now must comprehend
The demons in the heart
Of any child they loved and raised
And nurtured from the start

More than a decade now beyond
That fateful April day
I‘m still trying to grapple with
The lives they took away

With no regard for life or limb
No caring for their own
They even sacrificed their souls
For evil they had known

I've shed my tears for what they did
For broken hearts and homes
I shake my head in disbelief
Of how the sick mind roams

I pray that children far and wide
Will learn from all we've lost
And see that common sense must cleanse
The mind at every cost

Uniting with this energy
I ask of Columbine
Please bloom for me and slowly heal
This broken heart of mine
