Comfortless Memories Poem by Dzekashu Macviban

Comfortless Memories

Rating: 3.5

Tyrants and sycophants sit with comfortless memories
Perturbed by past, illegal and gory glories

Their future reserves nothing but gloom
Unlike their bygone days of bloom

The wheel turns, causing many a great fall
Togo has seen a fall -

Who will be the next - off

Oftentimes I wonder why meek rulers change when at the top
Forgetting the future - inevitable drop!

On the fall of Togolese ruler,
Gnassingbe Eyadema,2005.

Mac, when you wrote this poem, did you imagine that the Dean of African dictatorship will have less than five years to succumb to his own 'gory glories'? ha ha ha, time has a way of dealing with issues. I like the poem, i i think that you need a little more effort to push the idea through and well.

Very finely wrought - economy of metrical lines in couplets used to convey your message clearly. Keep writing - very good work
