Coming Attractions

Poem by Tony Winters

If the Lord only had his own television show,
To the top of the ratings I am sure it would go.
He would give us an insight of all that is wrong,
And teach all of the nations how to get on.
His actors would be angels, spirits and guides,
Who would give good advice and take no sides.
The performance they give would be very compelling,
As the message is love, that's the thing they are selling.
It would show this world in a terrible light.
It would show those things that we push out of sight.
It's content would show fighting and war,
And people who are dying by the score
Of hunger and illness and poverty too,
And everyone wondering what they should do.
The rivers are polluted and the air's turning grey.
And the suffering of animals grows day by day.
I pray and I pray that the Lord is Hi-tech,
As we continue our world to wreck
It's only on telly he could show his disdain,
And then we might start to begin over again.
