Coming To Church Poem by Randy McClave

Coming To Church

How many will come to the church that you attend
If you tell them how they offend,
If they heard or read or saw or knew the mockery sowed
Even before the Rooster crowed.

How many will want to walk in your church's door
If they knew they'd be expecting a holy war,
With whispering and also finger's pointing
And no one there caring for spiritually anointing

How many will be afraid to come and sit on a pew
Because, they don't look or act or dress like you,
And if they came in scared from off of the street
Not once with a smile or handshake did you greet.

How many people truly need and want to worship
With the Lord they truly need and want to start a courtship,
But, they are tired and are scared of having a debate
With people with a mouth full of scripture, and a heart full of hate.

How many people will want to praise and sing a hymn
And if because of you, they believe Jesus hates them,
No matter of their past or their current lifestyle
I believe greeting them all with love, and care, and a smile.
