Comment To Catullus Poem by RIC BASTASA

Comment To Catullus

perhaps what i like is the flow of words,
but in all honesty, what Catullus said was
simple enough.

he cried for the untimely death of his brother.

just that, which I too can do, if myyounger brother
just in case dies in the far place where he's now.

i must admit my words are not flowing like a smooth
silky water from the big mouth of the river to the
narrow ways of the hillsides.

i humbly admit, I can weep like him, and just like any
other brother, but I must too admit, I never did justice
to how a poem must sound, in such an artistic sorrow,

pains which travel like blood and then seeps and
sleeps in the secret depths of the marrow.
