Complacent Poem by Merlene Campbell

Complacent

Complacent
Do nothing and they will go away
Do nothing because today is the day
Complacent is the way to keep the predators at bay
Because for our children bondage will be their way
And if we give them the tide in which they play
The only consequence will be the fight in which we stay
Selfishness is the way to be the monsters in which we fade
Into the endless tide of turning rage
Be complacent to keep the peace in which we crave
