Concern Poem by Rose McLaughlin

Concern

You feel your heart,
It begins to race.
This feeling does not comfort you,
The danger rises.
You feel the stab,
You feel the wound,
It's a burning pain.
Your blood escapes,
Your screams meet deaf ears.

You finally snap back,
You're sitting in bed,
You're alone.

Where is your love,
Where is your mate?
Where is the call,
Where is the text?

The clock hands spin,
They tease your thoughts.
Doubt kicks in,
Hope beats it down.

You tell yourself it's okay,
You tell yourself it's fine.
But you can't help wondering...
