Coner Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Coner

Coner

Things have changed
-overall, world-around
- (many folds, as I read,
-saw them and do recall.)

The mankind's relations
-and the life standards
-with beings, air, ground
-sea, mountains, animals…
-drastically have changed
- (inside out and up-down.)

Many things that we did
-or were done before us
-everyday and weekly
-as part of normal life,
-are seen as "Against law",
- "Cruel" and "Brutal! "

Lot of what we did not
-are now, norm, daily life.

Recall bows and arrows?
The slaves in shackles?
Rowing ships in the sea?
Men having many wives?
Having kids in dozens?
Dogs pulling the sleighs?
Bullfighting, Matadors?
The Circus with tigers?
How about children
- (in farm, with the plow?)

Have you read Jack London?
-the man-dog relations?

What about cat and rat?
(admired for the hunt!)

And the dogs chasing cats?
(Cats resting on branch!)

When I was a cadet
(in Texas, USA,
-saw parents pulling pants,
-baring kids' buttocks and
-punish them with spanks.)

Saw the kids go around
-sell items, throw out
-the papers to the doors.

I have read lots and seen
-what is now "The obscene! "

A ten and half of ten
-before that, when younger
-I also worked in shops
-one of jobs that I did
-was working as coner…

We received wool fibers;
-pushed them in soap-water
-after soaked for hours
-brought out, spread
- on floor and rolled them.

Kneeled and bent over them
-moved forward on our knees
-for many long hours
-kept rolling-unrolling
-and rolling repeated
-till fibers united
-turned to mats,
-rugs, carpets.

No law said:
- "Child labour! "
- "Child soldier! "
-all were the norms of day.

No law said:
- "Cruelty toward the
-CHILDREN, ANIMALS…"
