Confined Inside Poem by Shalom Freedman

Confined Inside

CONFINED INSIDE

Confined inside all day long
Boredom and restlessness come-
The human being was born to wander and wonder-
Inside is one kind of exploration,
But without the use of the legs
The mind tends to frail and darken
Outside is the light and the distance
Worlds to be seen and searched for
The sheer pleasure of moving and being-

Inside is a prison
This too cold too sleety day has devised
I am writing here and I love to write
But even more I want now to walk out the door
Into an unknown world
However cold and dark-
