Confusion Poem by Black Mendilouche

Confusion

Rating: 3.0

Stuck between a rock and a soft place;
Caught on the horns of a dilemma.
Whether ‘tis nobler to howl at the moon
or stoic, stiff-lipped
slip the surly bonds of mirth.
Eat worms and go
gently into that bad night?
Uptight and tender;
victim of the gender wars.
Martian man ‘gainst venal maid.
Get laid or maintain staid
but stoic no-heroics friendship?
Come on strong or end this song?

Forgotten rhyme climbs into my
consciousness, conch-like, curling
and twirling in my fogged up brain.
Pain drains all thought not taught.
Emotions raw upon the floor.

A mini-tour-de-force is what you have produced, rich in allusion, word-play, rhyme. Is it about poetry or the relationship between the sexes? Both, of course. Call me greedy if you like, but I'd like to see a longer version of this one.

Very strong and filled with internal emotions, rhythms and rhymes... this works on many levels!

This confusion '...conch-like, curling/ and twirling in my fogged brain' (superb!) pours forth as an artistic stream of consciousness that leaves the reader in awe. The final two lines are heart rending. An admirable poem. S :)
