Consider Africa Poem by Bame Bame

Consider Africa

The world spoke of strong nations; they left Africa out
They made decisions about Africa but left Africans out
Those who dared to liberate Africa, were taken out
We have a beautiful continent, we should be proud
But we have been severely wounded, listen to nations cry
We have seen so much evil, good days are hard to come by

The painful truth is that the enemy is never far
Our greatest downfall is always a result of an inside job
Seven deadly sins, greed always tops the charts
Power hungry people leading millions to hunger
Africa is bleeding, you can feel its pain when you place your palm on the ground
The world can't survive without us yet we are dying because of the world

We have failed generations and wonder why generations are failing
Our cultural heritage became tainted, we made it foreign
Those who understood the power in numbers, caused the great divide
That day will come when Africa's history will speak for itself
We are uncovering hidden truths, you can call us relic hunters
The artefacts that never made it to museums, we found the missing chapters

For centuries, we have always been on survival mode
But a major shift is happening, we finally broke the code
Ignite the light of that Pan-African spirit
Whatever doubt you have about what we could become, kill it Africa is rising, the world can undeniably feel it
God, when You send Your healing power to this world, consider Africa.
