Constant Craving Poem by Elena Goldenberg

Constant Craving

I'll burst to shards
because of you
so absent by my side
your nails so red & wildly sharp
to cut off dead a piece of mine

while craving drives me raving mad
deserted in your shifting sand
with you in an unfathomed land
& me enrolled to journey sad
in absences of yours to hide
or let my pride be swept aside
by ever-lusting tide

I'll burst of shame
because of me
so absent by your hand
my standard white is fed to flame
I cling to touch & sight & scent
to hold you to our doom.
