Contemplations Poem by philip mtange

Contemplations

The infinite plurality that surrounds me
The totality of existing things
The knowledge of endless possibilities
Has kept me in a state of wonder.

I have sought refuge in mythology
But my intellect remains distressed
The puzzles of the world intrigue me
But rationality does not provide all my answers.

Can the infinitiveness and autonomy of my mind
Bare comparison to the universe?
That the galazies can outlive my body is no question
But can they outlive my mind and soul.

The multiplicity and contradiction that permeate the very being of things is amazing
But is there something permanent?
What is the route cause of all these?
Is it not said by the wise men
That nothing can be the cause of itself
For in order to be this, it would have to exist before itself.

As I glaze my eyes across the horizon
As I look upwards towards the heavens
Question upon Question stream through my mind
And I cannot help asking myself
What is the unifying factor in all these?
……………. I simply voicing the discontentment
Of a disillusioned visionary?

There is always an answer, we just have to keep picking away at the possibilities. This is the key driver for finding that perfect unity in all things. Once found there can be a mystery in the unity itself, acceptance of this as such may rest the mind. Just my opinion!
