Control Poem by Guy McDonald

Control

Rating: 5.0

He makes a request but there is no reaction
He requests it again, now with more energy
No reaction
Stands up and screams
'Do as I say! '
Still no reaction
Neither makes a sound
'You will work.'
He swiftly lands a hit
Once again, makes his demand
Still no reaction
Frustrated, he lands a second and third blow
The request is made again, still no reaction
Now enraged, he beats his subordinate
Eyes wide and furious
Teeth clenched
Spit flinging out
He delivers a hit against the table
Even goes so far as to throw across the room
Still no reaction
Calmly, he leaves the room
Shuffles through a drawer and returns
With batteries
He figured they were dead,
And that's why the remote wasn't working
Pulls apart the plastic and they hit the table with a clank
Takes off the back
Slides in two double A's
Puts on the back
Points at the TV

Still no reaction

An insight depiction of sheer madness occasioned by utter frustration, well articulated and nicely penned with conviction. Thanks for sharing Guy.

Loved reading the poem gripped by the horror and suspense as if watching a horror movie or reading a detective novel. You have won over with your very first poem on PH. Thanks. Slides in two double A's Puts on the back

It’s sad to say that’s what some women are going through; domestic violence (even now as I write these words) and there is no reaction because the first hit has caused the last breath. Good, you were talking about the TV remote.
