Cookie Cutter Poem by Monica O'Connor

Cookie Cutter

miracle mystery madly falling
into time warps of swingsets
on blacktop.

timeless talking taking wildly
focused pictures of princesses
growing older.

genuinely gently gingerly slipping
deeper into daydreams and further
into love.

and out again and in again and out again.

secretly slowly smoothly tricking
another into falling from grace with
a heart of gold.

molding meshing melding into
cookie-cutter expectations and breaking
our boundaries, always.

growing older falling harder learning faster dreaming bigger.
