Sweet Sorrow Poem by Monica O'Connor

Sweet Sorrow

Rating: 5.0

August 25,2009

Happiness is why I'll believe every word
Hope is why I always accept
Longing is why I constantly give into you
Loneliness keeps me chained to the
Fear with which my days rise and set.
Stubborness will keep me going on this way, though my
Bitterness tells me that I'm
Foolish, which will let me wander in the
Melody of every song, our songs.
Comforting are the chords I hum to ease my
Sorrow, yet with every note I think of you and the supressed
Rage, and love, and tears that all boil down to the
Sadness; the
Sadness, and the
Emptiness, and the
Sweet sorrow. I could learn a few things about my
Fears if I'd just listen to the
Sweetness. Like how when
Fear comes, I'll be abandoned with my
Loneliness.
Sweet sorrow turns
Bitter; bitter in the way you'll say my name all too soon.
Empty in the way I'll feel when
Fear arrives,
Sad when I know I'm no longer
Foolish, and
Bitter, and
Stubborn, and
Fearful, and
Lonely, and
Longing, and
Hopeful, and
Happy.
