Corn
Filled the pot with water
-then set it on cooker.
Took the bag from the freezer
-it was filled; cut open with scissors.
In it beads of the corn
-yellow, gold.
Meant to have
-boiled, simple
-nothing else!
But craze; as always
-has been, is
-in me and is ablaze.
Remembered the mountains
-childhood life over there
-things were so different
Corns were white
-grounded to powder
-unlike wheat's
-rough, sort of granule.
Then water was boiled and
-poured in it the powder
-and stirred to thicken.
Now we had the Kachi
-let it cook in the heat.
Recipe demanded
-for further additives
-kashk, Qalieh.
Kashk, sour, was the last in dairies
-while Qalieh was richest
-the fat of animal
-was melted to roast a mix of heart and liver.
