Corruption Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

Corruption

The cankerworm predominant
In the land of my root
Like a bestowed natural dragon
That devours the fabrics of our sustenance

It spreads through the trunk
Feeding on buds and tender leaves
Like a viral epidemic

Everyone
Someday, somehow and somewhere
Is infected or affect like a pandemic

No effective vaccine yet
And maybe none sometime soon
For a ravaging fatal scourge
That keeps the state quarantined from the globe

The heavily infected are allergic
And power immune to the therapy of west
And the looting and squandering
Continues carelessly unabated
