Corruption
CORRUPTION
MATLOOB BOKHARI
In the land where monsters had corrupted the power
I saw there the blinds were ruling the blinds
Sad, all in power were more corrupt than the street walkers
The poor living in the ordinary sleeping bags
Were paying taxes for the comfort of those sleeping on the beds of roses
Like oily snakes, the imposters were swimming in the night water
Heaven was being preached by them from the den of corruption
In their greed, they were preaching religion with false promises and hopes
The land full of blood suckers was filled with violence
The tormentors were smiling on the corpses of the tormented
Evil writers, evil rulers, evil obedient dogs: All had sold their souls
In classrooms, children of the slaves were being yoked in an oppressive rule
In the land of darkness, deception and solitude
Death, terror and horror were lurking at the every corner of street
I was deeply wounded to see the whole nation sinking
In the muddy water of corruption with all its morals
Helplessness and hopelessness, I was lying down alone
I heard the voice that does not use words, saying
"Listen and understand
Remember, Remember, O teacher!
You are not Jesus Christ of Nazareth
Nor you are Hussain of Karbala
O teacher!
Start a movement in the classrooms against bribery, black money and corruption
Produce beautiful minds in your classrooms
Teach your students that corruption is worse than poison
Teach your students that like cancer, corruption will eat their faith
Teach your students that nothing is worse than the menace of corruption
Teach your students that those who value their pockets are unfit to govern
Teach your students that friends of the corrupt world are the enemies of Allah
Teach your students to decorate their souls with love, beauty, music and dance
And limit their needs and control their wants
Teach your students to guard their heart; as spring of life flows from the heart
Teach your students in the story of freedom to overthrow the fetters imposed by capitalism and IMF
Teach your students it is better to die for freedom than crying in pain all in life
Teach your students about heroes of humanity who jumped into fire, willingly drank hemlock
Smilingly kissed gallows and happily sacrificed their dearest ones to preserve freedom of conscience
Teach your students about the fortitude of Christ
Teach your students about the valour of Socrates
Teach your students that the faith of Hussain
Teach them that Karbala is the brightest page in the history of mankind."
