Counterfeit Roses Poem by Diana van den Berg

Counterfeit Roses

Gather your counterfeit roses
like mocking smoky days
and scatter them,
wild-eyed,
in torrential rain
and after the rainbow
wrap the sunlight around you
and watch it
caress the earth,
guild white walls
and illuminate leaves

... and feel your burdens
fall
... if only for a moment.
