Crack The Bridge. Poem by Adeyefa Tolulope Michael

Crack The Bridge.

Rating: 5.0

"Crack the bridge"
"And set an inferno underneath! "
"That he who dares to cross over it"
"Shall fall not to survive in the bottomless pit! "
Commanded the tyrant monsters.
"Crack the bridge, I say! "
"Haven't we crossed without stress and fear? "
"Yes, we have and nothing have we to loose! "

Then came a strange voice bitterly sounding warning,
"The bridge you intends to crack had long since served both old and poor"
"If you crack it, thousands may fall into the chasm"
I don't care—No! Roared the fairy-looking "white-bearded" monster—
Their king, whose head is unfertile to grow hair
Then the strange voice dissolve into the thin air.

At the other end of the bridge
Pains, depression, sadness, anguish, anxiety bitterness regret...
Excruciated by those who promised to be with people in JOY and PAIN
But their heart is like rock—
Blatantly consumed with I-don't-care sydorome
Their eyes blind by selfishness and seems not to see people's ordeal.

They are cracking the bridge to ensure no other person will cross
That no other person will share the same status with them
That no other generation will rule, except theirs
Forgetting they had no hand in building the bridge
But were given the privilege to cross and live like man
Now out of nefarious and malicious act
Stands they on 'status quo'— "nothing shall stop us from cracking the bridge"

Soon, the strange voice shall reappear
This time with its true identity to destroy
All evil men if they refuse to desist from their wicked act
They shall face the wrath of God,
The Lord shall set plague upon their household
Like the days of Pharaoh
They shall suffer an infamous death
And a new dawn shall emerge for the oppressed.
