Cricket And An Analogy With The Seen And Unseen Men In My Life

Cricket and an analogy with the seen and unseen men in my life
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
World Cup cricket is fast approaching
And my husband and son are really excited
But I think that despite the ball going more to the off side
Which has the three slips positions
I believe in the leg slip on the on side
Which mind you, is also a slip position
I, as the batsman, believe in the sweep
Which goes to the long on and the long off
And also believe in the drive
Particularly, the forward drive
Which could result in a boundary or even a six
Then there is the pull, and I mean pulling at their shirt tails,
Which goes to the off side
And a square cut would not work for me
For I am a career and pay aspirant
Which brings me back to square one
And that is that men give me the slip
When it comes to actually keeping their promise
To publish and pay me and to fund me for my business projects.
