HOPE FOR AN EVEN BETTER TOMORROW
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
Emily Dickinson has said,
Hope is like a bird
That perches in my soul,
I shall add, it has feathers
And I flap my wings
Because I am full of hope;

Full of hope for a new Canada under Justin Trudeau or another winner
Interlinked with the irrevocable fact
Coming from Election Day 2019
Is my own hope for a brighter future
In my career driven life
For married life has taken a toll on my ambition;

But I have managed to carve out a niche
From the exciting yet humdrum aspect of my existence
I want more, earnings and a name for myself,
Both of which will let me rise in society's esteem;

Ambition is a strange bedfellow
For it often obliterates the glow of happiness
But I digress
Come this Monday - the 21st of Oct,2019
Our local candidates for MP Parkdale - High Park
Will battle each other for top spot in our neighbourhood
For the dictates of the Canadian Constitution hath said
This will ensure a victory for their chosen party
And thus, their party's leader who will become PM of Canada;

What will be the deciding factor for the
Hugs on the ballot box
On this one day, you, the citizen of Canada
Is more important than the PM of Canada;

Game Day is Election Day - 2019
Vote like there is no other tomorrow
"Blink once for yes, twice for no"
For me, hope for the same order with the
Wish that the old order changeth for the better
For the Radiohead were wrong,
"Do the best you can for the best is good enough"
Does not always hold true;

For us, the voters:
As John F. Kennedy has said:
Ask not what your country can do for you
Ask what you can do for your country,
Vote for a leader who will do the best for your country
But will also bring forth the best in you.

(6) Thank you that I may share my " input" about " politics" in which I do not really feel at home. God's Blessings be Greatest for you and your beloved family. NB. At THIS Moment the Storm CHIARA is here. Wildest storm ever. The picture you added is fantastic! I am a cartoonist too.

(5) For the first Indonesia has a non corrupt president and this Ir. JOKOWI is truly a decent and honest man, but the ones who are jealous of him, are fighting him constantly. Can you IMAGINE that Indonesia has presidents all corrupt in a way and this true frank person, is not corrupt at all. Unimaginable. But it is true (2014-2018 and now till 2022 or 2023) . That are the years Ir. Jokowi is still Indonesia’s President.

(4) So sorry for " my advice" , not really, but those words belong to the whole context of my response for your poem. AND last but not least: Now the PM has been chosen, I am doubting whether he is truly a best one or just wanna have a position in the Government About politics I am very cynical, I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia and grew up in the Netherlands.

(2) I think you should just emancipate and not let the elections depend on you. IN the country where I now live, a woman has the same rights as a man, you should never doubt your own ability, just do it and show that you can believe in yourself and know that whatever the education, you have the saying here IS: “Where there is a will, there is a way”. Beautiful poem, aptly worded, I have enjoyed very much.
