Crimson Steed
By William He
Scarlet clouds drift, aglow.
Jade reins fly, bright ripples flow.
Head turns with grace.
Against winds, proud frame,
New theme marked by fire's trace.
Through pine shades, it treads.
Not old yet, this steed.
Drinks from streams,
Where ice-mirrors spread, thin as need.
Burden of borders, anew.
From phoenix courts, it withdrew.
A spark lights the old fence's hue.
Slowly fades the glow,
Of western sun on royal tombs.
New chants speak truths, deep, true.
Where pines and vines twine,
Four seasons shine.
Like glass on jade trees, in line.
Past years, recalling now,
On gold tracks, steeds did call.
Where bronze pools rust and thrall.
Flame-ash stirs,
Sighs breathe, tears urge.
Go forth, no doubt.
As years shift, time moves.
Dewy palms hang, in vain.
Fire-god kicked down with disdain.
Demons breathe back, seas blur, flame's chain.
Steeds wait, bright.
Aiding fate with pure light.
Land and wind turn to rainbows, in sight.
Upon its return,
Clad in mist, ash that burns.
Red eyes, hooves, in fire's hold.
