Crossing The Dark Stream Poem by Sven Rhoads

Crossing The Dark Stream

As I lie on the ground with blood upon my hands
My breath is growing shorter but not surrendering to any man
My love, don't fill your eyes with tears tonight
For nothing will keep us apart, we will fight
As you kneel before my broken frame with sorrow
I will see you again in the distant tomorrow
When I wade the waters of the dark stream
I'll meet you on the other side of a dream

Together we have crossed the oceans of time
We have braved the greatest of all unknowns
But this chapter closed will be only mine
Let me feed the pyre, I'm not bound for the stone

As tear drops fall against your unbreakable will
Know that I will always be by your side, so be still
My darling, this is not to be the longest good-bye
So look upon me when you gaze into the night
As I become devoured by the burning flames
May the warmth wash over you with my name
For now I am crossing the dark stream
And your eternal flame of love will light my way
