Crumbs Poem by Angela Wybrow

Crumbs

I'll miss your hot breath upon my knee,
And your big, brown eyes gazing up at me.
I'll miss you galloping up the stairs,
And finding your fur just about everywhere!

I'll miss you snuffling through the waste paper bins,
And you hungrily eyeing my biscuit tin.
I'll miss the feel of your cold, wet nose,
And you sitting, listening to all of my woes.

Upon your head, I would plant a kiss;
Your funny little ways, I'll sorely miss.
You were my friend; my favourite boy,
And, into my life, you brought some much needed joy.

In to my room, you came uninvited;
At the sight of my food, you were excited.
You would sit for hours by my bedroom door;
My shopping bags, you so loved to explore.

Just like my shadow, you'd always follow;
Now my heart has been left feeling hollow.
Eventhough, we are now sadly apart,
Your spirit will live on within my heart.

I really loved all the time we spent together,
But I knew inside that it wouldn't be forever.
The rainbow bridge, you now have crossed,
And, a really dear friend, I have now lost.
