We are the jovial monkeys caught
in the snare though; we shed rivers of tears,
wipe our tears with begging palm,
eat banana crumbs with human skill
to provoke the empathy of the two- legged,
and be accepted as fellows in the jungle
Though, we plead the course of forgiveness
conceptual of timidity yet, free of offense;
we trek our fated path where cauterise
man coffin their snare to conduct our
species to the pen of extinction
still, we smile in the trap of man
with the most arousing sense of humour,
brand ourselves with the label of folly
to curry the never-lenify sympathy of man -
lost to vanity, greed and tribal despisal
even if we go on hunger strike, donate
our inheritance, for all we have, to appease
the greed of callous-hearted man, bow
to weight in multiple humility, and permit
the reign of terror to be accepted still, we
are wrapped in the closet of tribal hate
with smiling faces in a fight for freedom-
the bemused fight for continual servitude.
