Cry For Mercy Poem by Hannah Diane Williams

Cry For Mercy

You don't see the pain I feel.
You can't see past my fake smile and laugh.
You don't know what happened to me.
You assume the only reason I cry
Is to get attention.
But that's not true.
So, I'll fake a smile
On top of my tears.
And hide all my secret fears.
So no one will see what's really wrong.
The scream inside
Created so long ago
Can't be hidden forever.
Oh God, please, please, please
Help me understand.
You promised You'd never leave me,
So why did You let this happen?
Why did my heart get taken advantage of?

The scars formed inside
From so long ago
Are so deep.
They will not let me go.
Why? Why? WHY? !
I can't take this.
Added to this is the pain
I feel of permantly losing my friend,
Who's now buried in the ground.
I know he's with You,
And he's smiling down on us all.
But I don't understand how one girl
Could go through so much?
Please, have mercy on me, God,
Oh please!
