Culture. Culture. What Do You Mean By It? Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Culture. Culture. What Do You Mean By It?

Culture.
What culture?
What do you mean?
What do you mean by it?
Your culture,
My culture,
Their culture,
Isn't it,
Is it?
But which is
Whose culture,
How to say it?

What you race,
What your ethnicity,
How the roots,
What about your genealogy,
Heredity, culture,
Ethos, manners and customs,
What you profess,
What I,
How to say, say,
My culture you know it not,
Your culture I know it not?

Your family, tradition, ethics,
Morality,
You habits, manners,
Racial myths and mysticism,
Archetypal motifs,
Language, tradition and identity,
The roots of nativity,
I know it not
Nor do you,
So, how to greet you,
Welcome you?

But apart from something holds
Me back from
Concluding
That there is nothing beyond man,
Whatever be culture,
You too are a man,
I too am a man,
So, why should there be the differences
In understanding,
Humanity is first then culture
Whatever be it.

Family, tradition, ethics and morality should be kept ahead. All social development should be done as per efficiency of values. An amazing poem is brilliantly penned.
