Culture Reduced To Complete Junk: (2021)

Ads collide with ads,
At junk culture terminus.
Images and sounds
Accelerate across screens.
Virtues and ideals
Are constantly corroded.
Anytime, anywhere
The 'happiest' place on earth.
Because you're worth it.
The power of dreams and the
Relentless pursuit
Of perfection. Obey your
Thirst and don't forget
To taste sugar -free rainbows.
Fly the 'friendly' skies.
Heartbeat of America
The choice of a new
Generation. Just do it!
Cannibalised styles
Regurgitated notions
Contortions of facts
In the crazed three ringed circus
Distorted mirrors
That blur truth and illusion.
Believe in better:
Suspension of disbelief.
Blue and red are now
Bleeding into one. It's all
Just part of the game
Of spurious politics.
When it rains, it pours.
I perceive a vast array
Of dead- eyed doctrines
And dislocated faces.
Our idols echo
The horror of the abyss.
Silicone comforts
And digital fantasies.
Yet no -one, it seems,
Becomes any younger. Go
With the flow of things,
As the great geometry
Of classical forms
Are reduced to paltry dots.
Too many glitches
In audio/video.
Pretty plastic dolls
Melt under a neon sun
Songs of nostalgia
Often haunt the frayed airwaves
I hear strange voices
But they're not those of angels.
Keep on purchasing
All the modern essentials
Of living. No space
To create, only spectate.
Fractured slogans sell
Their tainted, Day-Glo magic
Digital fashions
And cartoon designs try to
Cover up the flaws
In the system and distract
From real purposes
And all human conundrums.
No longer do we
Sit together in circles
And tell each other
Stories: no communion.
Just insidious,
Monotonous, feedback loops.
No communion.
Too many bright distractions
No communion
Only communication
Via media
Too many bright distractions.
