Cupid And The Butterflies Poem by Nontobeko Dlamini

Cupid And The Butterflies

Rating: 5.0

A place!
Of lush green gardens,
Where Cupid floats,
Bow and arrow
Strapped on his chest,
In the company
Of the most bright coloured
butterflies,
Flattering their beautiful wings,
Dancing to the music
From the stroke of the leaves
Against the wind,
Making even the most exotic
flowers jealous,
For though they are beautiful
They cannot fly in the company
Of the handsome Cupid,
To the skies above
Or the creek below,
For the freshest waterfalls.
But all bask in the morning sun;
Flowers sparkling like diamonds,
As they loose the morning dew
To the kiss of the sun.
Butterflies flaunting their wings,
As the rays of the sun highlights
Their rich colours,
Cupids wings turning snowy
white
At the touch of the sun,
His bow ready for target,
Poor victims of Cupid!
For he's about to strike
The heart with force,
For sleepless nights
Of dreams of the one...
For you are ready to share;
That which is precious to you,
your soul,
Your wildest of dreams
Not even your best of friends
know.
To love when it hurts,
To forgive when your heart's
Oozing with blood
For you're still imprisoned
By Cupids spell.
