(cut Too Late) Poem by Melissa Franks

(cut Too Late)

She awakens from her dreams to be let down,
As her world suddenly fills the earth with a frown,
Her name was sunshine in which she filled others hearts,
Now to happiness she never knew a part,
She grabs her chest as her heart breaks,
Not sure how much more she can take,
Her eyes fill slowly with millions of tears
As she realizes she must live in her fear,
As the lonliness sets in with the cold lost feeling,
She tries to convince herself this isnt real,
She screams her lungs out and cusses to the sky,
She experiments the thought as if she were to die,
As she falls into the thought of that razor blade,
Suddenly all her pain goes away,
As she holds the cold blade in her hand,
She finds an inability to stand,
She falls to the ground (and slides the blade down her skin,)
Suddenly red rushes down her arms,
And she closes her eyes so slow,
She feels weightlessness and tries to let go,
Then she wakes up on a hospital bed,
Not sure what everyone just said,
She looks up at her mom and sees a smile,
Then she hears her dad say 'tiger its been a while'.
She sees and bandages on her wrapped real tight,
And her parents hug her and say 'It will be alright',
She cant move her right arm and starts to cry,
Her dad explains she needs to get sleep tonight,
She asks why and they say 'Baby you cut to deep, '
As she sits there once again in defeat,
She realizes it wasnt worth all the hurt,
As she grows older and realizes the worth,
Never again would she try to kill herself over a broken heart,
Because in this world this girl found her part
