Cycle Poem by Joseph D E Phillips

Cycle

There's a glitch in the matrix
and I've seen this before.
Why, I've written this
a thousand times

and I've seen this before
the movie came out.
The thirst for freedom is
why I've written this.

The movie came out
when I turned 13
and I didn't know what
the thirst for freedom is.

When I turned 13
degrees left
I broke the cycle of some barrier
and I didn't know what.

Degrees left
me with options
to begin breaking the monotony.
I broke the cycle of some barrier.

Me with options...
That's like a fool with money
just looking to burn it
to begin breaking the monotony.

That's like a fool with money
but I don't want it
I just want to break this annoying cycle
just looking to burn it

I don't want it I want
(Idon'tknowwhatIwant)

I want a field of grass and trees
and a porch and the sun and my wife
and a few wise friends who really care…
and music every day did I break it yet?
Did I break it
yet?
