To all whom direst pain we could inflict,
Those very close, find it severe to bear,
And so sadly, the place of worst conflict,
Is where hearts dwell, and vow once to forbear:
The chilly nights, left by the love that flies,
Cast cold shadows, where else the flyer goes,
And memories that never Time denies,
Live on, to even hold till Death's last throes;
But flame rekindles, wick relights again,
When candle stays on, standing as before
In altar that allures, wont to regain,
The splendor and glory that it once bore:
......Although in truth, love's desires never fade,
......But when love so desires, it could evade.
