D-Dog, How Do You Speak?
For Darwin, a mutt:
If you could speak
what would you say?
would you tell me
that you love me?
When you cuddle up next to me
in bed
and I stroke your fur
and you lick my hand
is that how you speak?
When you put your head in my lap
and your nose
feels so wet and cold
Is that how you speak?
When you jump up on me
and lick me
when I come home from school
is that how you say you love me?
