Daddy's Bleeding Out Poem by Stephanie Blodgett

Daddy's Bleeding Out

The black flesh will tear and the dark blood will flow
So much hate, the sharp pain raises form below
As he bleeds out the ones closest to him will go
They scream and sob, they will all die slow
The peace I had within myself is now critically low
He’s dieing so slowly, everything’s now so fallow
Reprimanded foe killing his health, drinking himself hallow
Punished for not living life, now death will soon fallow
Sanctuary, a distant not heard form sense long ago
Family crowed around him, keening, still screaming NO!

Born into a life of turbulent torture and woe
Hard people, hard streets, no friends, only foe
On the dark allies of New York he will stay and grow

Harder and stronger he gets by the day
He scraps and fights for respect that will stay
He spills the blood of many, he’s not the one to play
He changes people’s lives, most on a negative way
Brutally braking bones for much of nothing at all
But within himself his sanity levels continue to fall
And now he’s sick, dieing and killing us all

Drinking the life he hates so much away
Then he finds the meaning of like one day
The woman he loves changes him in more than one way
Now he finds life and a beautiful love for which he should stay

Now it’s to late, he’s wasted his life being drunk
The heartless people around him turn their heads at his luck
Karma’s come around and now he must suffer
An unforgettable pain that will only get tougher

This family he’s made he keeps close to his dieing heart
But his old destructive ways will tear us all apart
A close family that loves him he must leave behind
It’s the meaning of everything his girls must now find
Now they have nowhere that’s safe for them to hide
We have no strong figure that we can proudly stand aside

This whole thing is f**ked is such an unfair way
He’s finally happy, why must he now pay
Why cant he live longer, why can’t he just stay
But it’s all so hopeless, in the ground he’ll soon lay
He has lived the wrong way for much to long
The powers that be will take him, he’ll soon be gone

He’s been dieing so slowly, he will soon be dead
This will drive her insane, mom will blow off her head
Everyone else will die on the inside, there sanity will be lost
Daddy’s drinking will come at a painfully immense cost
All of our hearts blacken, creating a thick layer of frost

These are the last days I will ever spend with my dad
He’s the only real dad I ever let myself have
His life is being taken because he started off bad
We helped him find the meaning of like and for that I’m glad
Many people will die inside as he try’s not to share is pain
He will die a slow painful death and nothing will ever be the same

Before exodus of this world he will share his vapid heart with us all
But some of us might not make it, like him they may fall
I would give up any worldly possession for his death to stall
But I can’t help him… and the weigh of that I must forever haul

For so long there’s been a black empty hatred inside
This black hatred makes me want to forever hide
No one has the heart to answer my deepest plea
We will all die together, that’s just the way it has to be
