Dalit Kanya Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Dalit Kanya

Dalit kanya,
Where was she born,
Where did she grow up
In which hut or mud house
Leaking poorly during the rains,
Sleeping on the muddy floor,
Passing the hot and humid summer days,
Living with the cattle by their side,
Going half-fed, half-clothed,
Arising with the dawn,
Sleeping by the night,
Passing her days in anonymity,
Living in darkness
With nothing to store and eat,
Earn you daily and eat
In a small locality
Or manage you somehow
To live a nondescript life,
Dalit Kanya,
Dalit daughter poorly,
Agrarian India's
Poor and neglected daughter
Poorly!
