Damaged Soul Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Damaged Soul

Rating: 5.0

Beauty tainted
Stained by tear tracks
Mascaras blackened runs
Smeared into rouge puffed cheeks
Lipstick smudges intermingled
Hair knotted in disarray
Grief filled sobs filled the air
Ugly bruising showing
Cuts given from abusive hands
Clothing ripped and torn
Dishevelled
Frightened
Bewildered
Hiding from herself
Blaming her own actions
Confidence shattered to shards
Raped not only physically but mentally
A victim of a date gone wrong
Plied surreptitiously with drink
Too much alcohol hastily drunk
Laced with drugs meant to disable
Pure evil the intent
A sign of repugnant times
Who will console her damaged soul?
Pick up her self-confidence
Drag her back from the precipice of despair
Make whole beauties inner belief
To smile and laugh once more
Healed yet, scarred deep within
Complete but always empty
A shell of her former self
Only time, understanding, tenderness and love
