Dancing Flower Poem by Jasmin Alice Read

Dancing Flower

Pretty pretty pretty
Purple purple purple
Delicate delicate delicate

Swish swish swish
Swosh swosh swosh
Windy windy windy

I dance in
The strong wind
Purple flower I am
Dance dance dance

Yesterday I dance
Today I dance
Tomorrow I dance

Dance dance dance
Forever dance

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
So about a year ago I was on this creative writing trip at school with about 10 other pupils for a day, where we looked at some David Hockney painting and met up with a AMAZING poet named Peter Samson. He was barking mad, and absolutely my type of person. We were walking down the street when someone said 'Those allotment flowers are pretty.' so he told us to stand there and write a poem about them. Right there in the middle of the street. After a few minutes he asked a couple of us to read out what we had wrote, and I put my hand up. I knew it was strange, and childish, but as I had hoped, he liked it. In fact, when I was finished, he said in a surprised tone 'That's brilliant. That is brilliant nonsense! '
I don't think I'll ever be so proud of myself again ;)

Dance and dance sweet purple flower and join you all others in the bower in the sun, in the moonlit night with the drip drop of happy showers!
