Dancing For An Audience Of Only One. Poem by Roxanne Dubarry

Dancing For An Audience Of Only One.

Rating: 5.0

During certain short regular songs played at Faith Lutheran Church,
the church members called my dancing conducting.
Our former pastor said it was, "distracting."

I asked her if I should simply stop, and she said, "Who are
you dancing for Roxanne? " "I am dancing for God, " I replied.
"Then you are not dancing for yourself? I truthfully answered."
No I am not."

She told me to, "stand in one place and do not move about.
Dance in front of the alter and face the cross.Only do it
during one song only." "What song? " I wanted to know."
"Lord, listening to your children praying." She smiled at me.

It makes sense.During singing a prayerful song, the
congregation is focused on their prayers instead of me.
The members in front of me are the only ones who can
see me.I sit in the front row on the piano side of our church.

My dancing or conducting is not distracting anyone. And I
honestly am performing it for an audience of only one.
It is my form of worshiping and honoring Jesus Christ,
God's only begotten Son.
