Dappled Hunter Poem by Ima Ryma

Dappled Hunter

It is the early morn and I
Do quickly cross the grass filled dew.
Ahead my quarry I do spy,
A badger is running fast to
Escape me, but I know for sure
I'll find its burrow and with skill,
Corkscrew my wiry, dappled fur,
And find my prey and make my kill.
And then on short legs I will drag
The badger carcass back to where
My human can see my fine bag,
And pat my head of dappled hair.

A double dapple dachshund dog,
My hunting skills leave all agog.
