Dare To Be Different Poem by Richard Ikolo

Dare To Be Different

Eat not from the proceeds of corruption
For you won't be free from condemnation

Drink not from the wine of the violent
Do you not know the wine is virulent?

Reject the dividends from ill-gotten wealth
Or else you would surely pay with your health

Have no portion with the conspirator
He will face the wrath of the Creator

He that pitches his tent with reprobates and evil-doers
Shall receive the repercussion awaiting sinners

Flee the midst of silent Murmurers
Why should you die with murderers?

Who among you seems to be pretty wise?
Dare to be different to get the prize

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is a didactic poem that calls the individual to be different and distinct in character and lifestyle. It corroborates the biblical injunctions in Exodus 23: 2 and 2Corinthians 6: 17.It takes determination to stand out and to be unique in a compromising world. The poet concludes with the fact that there is a prize that awaits those on the final day that dare to be different.
