Darling Dearest Poem by Richard Ikolo

Darling Dearest

Our union, a divine handiwork
It all started likechild's play
Could I ever forget that day?
Not my labour, but heaven's homework
Kept you waiting for a thousand days
For excuses of lack and joblessness
In spite of delays, you exhibited faithfullness
From you, I learnt patience pays
Then came our solemnisation
It was altogether a miracle
Under the eyes of God's oracle
Ah, what a great jubilation!
Witnessed the pure blood of your virginity
On the first night of our embrace
Truly, it was all by His grace
You were able to maintain your chastity
An epitome of a virtuous wife
Precious gift to me from the Lord
With you I never can be bored
You're my love and life
Your charming smiles strangles my anger
A gentle touch from you drives away fear
Your soothing voice wipes my tear
Comfort from the poking of your finger
Darling Dearest, you're forever mine
Until death do us part
I'll never from you depart
With you, will I ever dine.
