Dark Poem by Arik Carpenter

Dark

The wind is blowing
I can’t see your face
Yet I know you’re there
There is too much space
I can’t help but care
Even knowing
Where we are going.

The night is cold
The eyes are watching
I feel so bold
Seeing the eyes
Of things untold.

The sun is rising
The house is near
The bacon cooking
I stilled my fear
I reached for your hand
“I love you Dear”
Before I can take hold
You disappear.

I look in the dark
Till my body screams
I can hear a lark
“I hate these dreams”.
