Dark Poem by Jacob Bjork

Dark

There's a place inside the dark I've found
And I can't seem to let it go
It's taken the best of me, it shows
When will I figure out why I feel so alone?
All I want is some space to call my home
But I can't find a safe path to travel in my head
Take each day as it descends, that's what they say
It will be worth it in the end, that's what I pray

I hold on tight to these feelings that I hate
I once said I would be someone great
But everyday I feel the same
I can never get some rest; I've got this mindset
That I won't ever get it right, but I'm just fine
Either way I lift my hands up high and pray,
Pray for my god to send a light out of the sky

So fill me up, then pour me out
Pick me up when I'm down, because I'm not out
My mind is filled with all of this doubt
I need my eyes to see something else
That will save me, from myself
(x2)

I feel like giving up tonight
My mind has taken flight
I'm going to let go
I would, you know I want to
First I need to know what I’m here for
Because there's a voice inside the dark
That keeps telling me, 'No, I promise there's more'

So fill me up, then pour me out
Pick me up when I'm down, because I'm not out
My mind is filled with all of this doubt
I need my eyes to see something else
That will save me, from myself
(x2)

I hold on tight to these feelings that I hate
I once said I would be someone great
But everyday I feel the same
I can never get some rest; I've got this mindset
That I won't ever get it right, but I'm just fine
Either way I lift my hands up high and pray,
Pray for my god to send a light out of the sky

He took me in and told me this,
'Son, you're so damn young
You don't have to do this on your own
Even when you feel completely alone
There's always a light in the sky
You just have to open your eyes to find it'

I've got this mindset
